With The Walking Dead nearing the end of its latest season, the moment that many fans have been waiting for is almost here. The final episode of season six promises to introduce the villainous Negan, and a new international teaser for the show provides a first glimpse of this notorious character. Check it out below:
Negan is to be played by Watchmen star Jeffrey Dean Morgan. One of Negan’s main characteristics in the Walking Dead comic books–alongside his spiked club Lucille–is his colorful use of language. In an interview with Collider last month, Morgan was asked about whether he would be allowed to be quite as profane as he is on the page.
“Look, it’s a speed bump,” he admitted. “I’m not going to say it’s an issue because they’re working on it. We’re going to push AMC–the plan is to push them as far as they can because it’s who Negan is. He uses some colorful language. And I use some colorful language. And reading the comic, it’s important.
“So we’ll see where that lands. It’s our intention that this character is going to leap off the pages of the comic book. It’s very important that that’s who it is. Some of the characters there’s much more leeway, but Negan is a guy that you want to keep as true as possible, and that would be how I want to play him as well.”
The Walking Dead season six’s final two episodes will be broadcast on March 27 and April 3, 2016.
