The Gear VR device launched in November 2015, following the release of an “innovator” edition for developers. It’s made by technology giant Samsung in partnership with Oculus. The Oculus Rift device, which uses a computer, launched in March, priced at $600.
Gear VR requires a newer-model Samsung Galaxy phone to work; the phone slots into the headset to serve as its display and processor.
