This post and accompany video contain lots of Stranger Things spoilers.
Netflix’s Stranger Things gets a whole lot stranger in this new spoof video that aired last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Barb returns from the Upside Down to lace into the boys about why they didn’t come to save her. Will was their friend, sure, but Barb deserved better, she argues in her profanity-laced attack. Take a look:
Fallon himself plays the role of Steve, Nancy’s boyfriend. He doesn’t say much, but starts things off with a crack about Dungeons & Dragons by instead referring to the classic board game as “Virgins & Dragons.”
It’s a pretty slickly produced video that brings together the boys that make up the main cast. The video aired yesterday, August 31, which was the same day that Netflix announced Stranger Things Season 2.
On the subject of Barb, creators Matt and Ross Duffer said in a recent interview that she probably won’t be back for Season 2 for obvious reasons. Season 2 aims to do right by her character, they said, though it remains to be seen how this will happen.
The brothers also pointed out that Season 1 takes place over the course of only about a week and that it’s possible the authorities were looking for her, even if this wasn’t shown on screen.
“Barb will not be forgotten,” Matt Duffer said. “We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it.”
