There has been much speculation over the past year about whether Daniel Craig will return for a fifth James Bond movie–and who will take over as 007 if he doesn’t. It has now been reported that the actor has been offered a huge amount of money to remain in the role.
According to Radar, producers have offered the star $150 million for another two Bond movies. The site’s sources state that Sony are looking to shoot both films “virtually back-to-back,” while the search for a replacement OO7 continues. To date, Craig has not stated if he will return for the next film, and Sony has not commented on this report.
A number of names have been rumoured as possible replacements for Craig over the past few months, including Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, and Tom Hiddleston.
Last year, Craig made no secret of the fact that last year’s Spectre was a tough shoot and that he wasn’t looking to dive straight back into another Bond production. “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,” he told TimeOut. “No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done [filming Spectre]. All I want to do is move on.
“At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”
