Ever since the original Star Wars helped invent modern movie merchandising, toys have been a key part of every new film release in the blockbuster franchise. Lucasfilm are using an innovative approach to showcase the toyline for the upcoming spinoff Rogue One–a series of stop motion shorts titled Go Rogue. The second episode has been released–check it out below:
This follows the first episode, which landed last week–watch it here. The Go Rogue shorts have been created for Lucasfilm by Tongal, a Santa Monica-based studio that crowdsources its technical teams from a community of fans.
The Rogue One toys will be released on September 30. Disney and Lucasfilm are also running a competition for fans to make their own shorts, with the winners invited to Lucasfilm’s HQ in San Francisco to watch a screening of Rogue One.
