Windows 10 Store download issues recently surfaced with the release of Forza Horizon 3. The problems are not specific to Forza, but a fix is now available that can save you some trouble whether you’re downloading that game, Gears of War 4, or any number of other things.
A new Windows 10 update has been released that will resolve the issue, according to Microsoft’s Larry Hryb. You’ll want to make sure Windows Update grabs KB3194496, a small patch that will bring your version of Windows 10 to 14939.222.
Hryb said in a tweet that installing this will address download issues players may encounter with Forza, ReCore, Halo 5’s Forge tools, and preloading for Gears 4. We reported last week that those trying to preload Forza found their downloads were resetting–a serious problem for those with slow connections or data caps considering the game’s 49 GB size.
The Windows Store has recently presented itself as a much more desirable way to buy PC games. Forza, ReCore, and Gears 4 are all Xbox Play Anywhere games, so purchasing a digital copy gets you access on both PC and Xbox One. It’s an attractive feature, even if–in the case of Forza–your PC will probably struggle to run the game at 60 FPS.
