Fox has released a new featurette for the Assassin’s Creed movie. Titled “World of Assassin’s Creed,” the video features commentary from star and producer Michael Fassbender and director Justin Kurzel.

In addition to hearing directly from the star and director, there are some cool behind-the-scenes shots of the filmmaking process. Fassbender states that their goal was to be “old-school” and use a lot of practical effects instead of CGI. Indeed, a stunt person even jumped from a 120-foot ledge to perform a “Leap of Faith.”

“In an era where there’s a lot of CGI, we wanted to have as much old-school, real location shoots as possible,” Fassbender explained in the video.

“There’s very little green screen in this, which is highly unusual in these films,” Fassbender said previously. “We have stunt guys jumping across buildings in [Maltese capital] Valletta. We’ve got [stunt man Damian Walters] doing a 120-foot leap of faith, without any rope, into a bag, so it’s pretty incredible to see.”

Kurzel says in the video that his goal was to make viewers feel like the world actually exists. For his part, Fassbender added that it was important to get the parkour sequences right to please fans of the series.

Assassin’s Creed comes to theaters on December 21. In addition to Fassbender, it stars Oscar winners Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons. Ariane Labed, Brendan Gleeson, and Michael Kenneth Williams are also in the movie. A new trailer was released this month–watch it here.

As for the Assassin’s Creed game series, there won’t be a new entry in the mainline series this year. However, Ubisoft will release the Ezio Trilogy for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in November.
