Mad Max: Fury Road and The Dark Knight Rises actor Tom Hardy will play iconic Chicago gangster Al Capone in a new movie, Fonzo. Deadline reports that the film will focus on Capone’s final days after he got out of prison.

“Dementia rots his mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life,” reads a description of the film. In real life, Capone died in 1947 at age 48.

Fonzo is in preproduction and no date has been set for its release. It will be directed by Josh Trank, who helmed Chronicle and more recently, the poorly received box office flop Fantastic Four.

Oscar winner Robert DeNiro played Capone in the 1987 mob movie The Untouchables.

Hardy will be seen next in the Christopher Nolan war movie Dunkirk. He’s also signed on to play Sam Fisher in Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell movie, though we haven’t heard much about that project in a while. A report from Variety earlier this year claimed the film will open in 2017 and that a sequel is on the way.
