Trackmania Turbo Open Beta Announced, Here’s How to Get In

TrackMania Turbo is scheduled to launch on March 22, but you’ll be able to play it earlier through an open beta, Ubisoft announced today. The open beta will run March 18 through March 21 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The racing game is also coming to PC, but Ubisoft made no mention of a beta for computers.

Specifically, the Turbo beta will begin on March 18 at 6 AM PST / 9 AM EST and end on March 21 at the same time. To get in, all you have to do is download the client from the Xbox or PlayStation Stores when it pops up this Friday, March 18.

Turbo, developed by Ubisoft studio Nadeo, was originally pegged to launch in 2015, but Ubisoft elected to push the game out to 2016 as a result of fan feedback, among other things.

In announcing Turbo’s delay back in October, Ubisoft said it “received valuable feedback” from fans, which it takes “very seriously.” The extra development time was used to “enhance the campaign and the game’s interface.” The UI has notoriously been convoluted in past TrackMania games.

Nadeo also spent the extra time improving other areas of the game, including multiplayer and online stability. Additionally, the developer added new features, including a mode that lets you play against friends on “your favorite user-made tracks.” And the Trackbuilder mode was made “even more accessible and complete,” while the random generator will be “fine-tune[d].”

Turbo was announced during Ubisoft’s briefing at E3 2015 last summer.
