A big new update for Killing Floor 2 has been unveiled, and it launches for free today on PC and PS4.
Tropical Bash introduces a wide variety of new features, starting with a weapon, the Bone Crusher. It’s a tier 4 Berserker weapon that consists of a mace (the base of which is a baseball bat) and a spiked shield (built from a hubcap). It can be used to assault enemies or parry attacks to avoid taking damage.

While the Bone Crusher is class-specific, this update tweaks a number of existing weapons so that they are no longer tied to a specific class (or Perk, in the game’s parlance). While you were previously free to use any weapon you wished, you didn’t receive the benefits that come with using a weapon meant for your class. Support players, for instance, now receive benefits when using the Medic’s shotgun.
The Gorefiend is a new type of Zed you’ll square off against. It wields a huge blade with each of its arms and is described as an “improved version of the Gorefast,” the existing enemy that wields a large sword and rushes at players. The image below details what weapons it’s most vulnerable to–ideally, you’ll have a shotgun or rifle to put them down.

You’ll be able to enjoy this all on a new map, Zed Landing. The map features a crashed cargo plane and a nearby volcano that occasionally erupts, sending out a stream of lava that poses a danger. You can see it in the images above.
Other changes and additions include new emotes, achievements (on PC), balance tweaks to various weapons, a faster path to level 10, map changes, and bug fixes. You can check out a full list of patch notes for the PC version here.
