2K Games has revealed a new hunter via Gamepedia for its co-operative first-person PC shooter, Evolve. Quantum Caira is a new variant of the medic Caira, and has an arsenal of skills which focus on healing over time and zone control
Quantum Caira is the result of a surge of Quantum Energy on a Wraith test site. She sports four new abilities detailed as follows:
- Proton Field – A zone that deals damage over time to enemies. Can stack multiple fields.
- Regeneration Field – A Generyst zone that heals Hunters. Can stack multiple fields.
- Neutron Barrier – A short damage-resistance buff for all nearby Hunters.
- Generyst II Field: An area that heals Hunters and damages Monsters for the duration of the effect.
Note that she does not have any burst healing abilities. Quantum Caira is described as “a challenge to master” but quite effective when used properly. She is best paired with trapper, or assault hunters with crowd control. Support hunters with defensive abilities are also a good match, able to set up safe zones to keep her away from being damaged.
2K Games also announced a month-long event named “Shear Madness” which will include five major game updates over five weeks, starting from today’s addition of Quantum Caira.
The update follows on from the addition of the hunter Electro Griffin. The character is a variation on the spike-wielding trapper Griffin. Evolve went free-to-play on PC in July. The free PC version of the game is titled Evolve: Stage 2 and can be downloaded on Steam. The move to a free-to-play model saw the game’s player base increase by a million in its first week.
