Nintendo today announced a brand-new New Nintendo 3DS XL system that takes its inspiration from Pokemon Sun and Moon. The $200 system launches on October 28, which is three weeks before Pokemon Sun and Moon come out on November 18.
The system features a nice-looking black color with the game’s Legendary creatures, Solgaleo and Lunala, seen on the cover. Though it’s inspired by the games, you’ll need to buy Pokemon Sun and Moon separately, as neither is included with the system.
“This year marks the 20th anniversary of the beloved Pokemon series and people have never been talking about Pokemon more,” Nintendo marketing executive Doug Bowser (yes, that’s his real name) said in a statement. “Playing Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon on this new Pokemon system is the best way for fans to show their love for this iconic series.”
Nintendo also confirmed today that it will offer a Pokemon Sun and Moon dual-pack that comes with both games and codes to unlock 100 Poke Balls each. This package will be available to buy at “select retailers” for $80. The games sell for $40 individually, so the only benefit you’re getting from the dual-pack is the Poke Balls.
In other news about Pokemon, The Pokemon Company today announced a brand-new animated video series called Pokemon Generations. Additionally, Pokemon Go has crossed a staggering 500 million downloads and is still raking it lots of money.
