EA and DICE are celebrating this week’s release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Blu-ray and DVD with a double XP weekend for Star Wars Battlefront that will run through Sunday.
The double XP event began on April 8 at 1 AM PST and ends on April 10 at 1 AM PST. “Get your popcorn ready and controllers charged, because this is a weekend you don’t want to miss,” EA said.
In other Battlefront news, the game’s first paid expansion, Outer Rim, was released this week for everyone following its launch in March for Season Pass owners.
The expansion adds four new multiplayer maps (Jabba’s Palace, Palace Garage, SoroSuub Refinery, and SoroSuub Pipelines), as well as a new mode called Extraction.
Also included with the DLC are two new hero characters, Greedo and Nien Nunb, as well as more weapons in the form of the Relby V-10 rifle and DT-12 blaster pistol. You can see a full rundown of new features here on the EA Star Wars website.
Outer Rim is Battlefront’s first expansion. Three further add-ons will follow, including Bespin (summer 2016), Death Star (fall 2016), and an untitled expansion coming in early 2017. All are included with the $50 Battlefront DLC pass or can be purchased individually for $15 each.
